Welcome to our Lab's web site!

Our laboratory was established, in 1994, in the new research center for the molecular biological study of medicinal resources, and then, in 2001, was involved in newly established Department of Genome Function in Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

The current research aims of our laboratory are to understand the mechanism and regulation of the production of useful metabolites in plants through the genomics and post-genomics approaches and subsequently to apply the obtained knowledge to genetic engineering in vivo.

Professor Kazuki Saito has been selected by Thomson Reuters into their prestigious list of Highly Cited Researchers 2014, which identifies the world's most influential contemporary researchers across 21 scientific fields. The ranking is based on highly cited papers (top 1%) in the 2002-2012 period. Professor Saito has been identified as highly cited researcher in the 'Plant & Animal Science' field, where 176 researcher are in this field. In all 21 fields, 98 researchers are selected from the organizations in Japan. Professor Saito is only one of three affiliated to Chiba University.> Link

Professor Kazuki Saito was selected as ASPB TOP AUTHORS. American
Society of Plant Biologists (ASPB) have analyzed citations to their
journals (Plant Physiology and Plant Cell) for papers published between
2004 and 2008 to identify the authors from around the world publishing
the most influential science.

by The Japanese Society of Pharmacognosy.

(Research Category) by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports,
